Baby Feet Card Making Tutorial

“Tiny Little Feet… have walked right into your heart!” This is an adorable baby card that is just perfect for welcoming bundles of joy.

Tips for Making This Card:

  1. After following the cutting and folding instructions for the ENCHANTED Card Making Template, you are ready to decorate your card.
  2. Cut the right edge with scallop scissors for a more decorative edge.
  3. Add thin strips of paper down one side of the card face and/or inside the oval.
  4. Stamp designs with clear acrylic stamps or use scrapbooking stickers to create an adorable focal point on the inside oval of the card.
  5. Stamp borders horizontally on the face of the card and again inside the card.
  6. Ink the edges of the card if desired.
  7. Using your clear alphabet rubber stamps or a favorite saying or sentiment rubber stamp, complete the thoughts you wish to convey with your handmade greeting card.

“Summer Pinwheels” Card Making Tutorial

Though summer is past, this bright cheerful card can be made with those special memories in mind, to bring cheer and laughter into the dreary days of winter.

Materials Needed to Make This Card

  1. Prepare the card for assembly by following the instructions for the Refresh Card Making Template.
  2. Using the Summer Season Clear Stamp Set, create a star background pattern on each of the three pinwheel (D) paper colors. You may find reading the Creating Your own Patterned Background Paper information helpful.
  3.  Assemble your pinwheels.
  4.  Stamp your sentiment, quote, or greeting onto paper B and secure it onto the right hand edge of your card as indicated in the Refresh card making layout.  Using the Summer Season Clear Stamp set stamp the word “SUMMER” onto this strip.  You may wish to stamp in a lighter and darker color to create a shadow image.  For the smaller words, use small Alphabet Clear Stamps.
  5. Position and secure the vertical elements.  Stamp a border image in between them your choice of ink colors.
  6. Secure pinwheels into place using 3-d Sticky squares.  You may wish to add a sentiment inside the card or leave it blank.

Template Tuesday: EXOTIC Card Making Template

‘Woodland Walk’ Card Making Tutorial

This card looks like it belongs outdoors! You will learn how distressing techniques of crumpled paper give the backdrop a weathered appearance, making the perfect frame for the woodland scene which this greeting card features.

MATERIALS NEEDED TO MAKE THIS CARD:

  1. Cut your cardstock  pieces and prepare according to the CRACKLED Card Making Template.   For this card you will need to cut two D pieces. One in rust cardstock and one on cream. Be sure to trim the edges after you have folded your card so all edges are even. (NOTE: This card is larger than 6×6. Begin with Step 4 and adjust your template pieces to fit your card.)
  2. Take the lightweight, light colored paper (B) and distress as instructed in  Distressing Techniques by crumpling and inking the paper.
  3. Carefully smooth out the paper, and glue onto the front of the card.
  4. On the D rust colored cardstock, using the Birch Buddies Clear Rubber Stamps, stamp two birch trees on right third of your paper in rust colored ink. On the D cream cardstock, stamp birch trees on the outside edges of your paper. Add leaves, grass, and animals as desired. Cut out the center area using a crat knife. Cut your photo or stamped image (D) to size.  Matte your photo or stamped image with the cardstock (C).   Distress the edges with ink if desired.  Using 3-d sticky squares mat and  mount this image as indicated in the above template.
  5. Using  the Fall Season clear acrylic stamps, stamp three leaves, one each in green, rust, and a deep yellow opto cream colored cardstock.  Cut out the leaves and arrange on card using 3-d sticky squares to secure.
  6. Stamp your message on the tag using the Garden Box Set  of clear stamps, distress the edges with ink as explained in Distressing Techniques.  Fasten the tag to your card.  You can put the brad in either before you secure the tag to the card, or after. 
  7. Add a saying or sentiment inside the card and stamp a leaf or two onto your envelope to finish your card making project

‘Butterfly Gardens’ Card Making Tutorial

This card just feels like spring and summer! With its colorful butterflies and swirling designs, Butter fly Gardens is a fun accordion card to make and give to the special people in your life.

MATERIALS NEEDED TO MAKE THIS CARD:

  TO MAKE THIS CARD

  1. Fold the 6″ x 12″ cardstock into thirds as illustrated in Fig 1 in Accordion Fold Card Making Instructions.
  2. VARIATION on Fig 2.  Cut the angle from the top left hand corner accross all three sections of the card as shown in the photo below.

3.   Using the Butterfly Beauties clear rubber stamps, ink the butterfly designs using 2-3 ink colors. Simply ink a portion of the butterfly in the first color, then in the darker color, ink the remainder of the design allowing the colors to blend together where they meet. Stamp 3-4 of each of 3-4 butterflies in this manner on scrap cardstock. Cut them out close to the design and glue to the top edge of the card. Be sure that your butterflies do not overlap the folds of the card, just the top edge.

4. Turn the card over and decorate the center portion  of the card so the butterflies in that section have a front and a back. This will give you a completed card front when it is all folded together as well as when it is opened completely.

5. Select fun sayings from the Live Well clear stamp set to add to each section of the inside of the card, on the front stamp your Birthday Sentiment .

Woodland Friends Card Making Tutorial

These adorable animals almost tell a story and easily convey the feelings of friendship contained in this card.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS CARD:

TO MAKE THIS CARD:

  1. Cut beige cardstock to 7″ x 10″. Fold in half for a 5×7 card.
  2. Cut another piece of beige cardstock to 4.5″ x 6.75″.  Stamp your woodland design using the Birch Buddies clear stamps and the black pigment ink.
  3. Next color your design using Technique #5 in the Coloring Designs Like a Pro Information pages. Using this technique, use light blue and brown pigment inks to create shadows on the trees. If you want to make an area darker simply paint over it once more after it is dry.
  4. Trim your paper if needed to that your scenic picture is centered.
  5. Cut Navy blue cardstock to 7″ x 5″. Trim off .75″ of an inch off the long side and put it through your border punch.
  6. Secure the navy blue cardstock to the beige 5×7 card with the edge lining up evenly with the fold. Secure the woodland friends in the center of the navy.
  7. Next, carefully add the decorative border to the side of the card leaving a small space between the two pieces of navy.
  8. Add a thoughful friendly sentiment to the inside of your card and mail it to a special friend.

‘Spring Delight’ Card Making Tutorial

Shadow stamping techniques combined with pastel colors make this a lovely spring or Easter card!

MATERIALS NEEDED TO MAKE THIS CARD:

TO MAKE THIS CARD:

  1. Score cardstock and fold giving you a 6″ x 6″ card.  Cut papers to size.  Attach the striped paper to the card and trim the edges for evenness.
  2. Using the Ribbons and Rikrak Clear Stamps, stamp a ribbon border along the top of your striped paper pink.  Now choose a ribbon design and stamp it over stripes in corresponding colors of ink to add character to the pattern.
  3. With the Geo Shapes Clear Stamp Set, ink the large square in one of the three colors of ink.  With the Fresh Flowers Clear Stamp Set, stamp the solid tulip on the inked square.  Stamp the square onto the white cardstock.  Do three of each color with this stamp as described in the Shadow in a Shadow Stamping technique.  To complete the design, stamp the solid tulip on the side, then stamp the outline and add a green stem.  Mat and glue together.  Adhere to the card with 3-d sticky foam.
  4. Stamp a saying or sentiment inside your card and you are ready to brighten the day of someone special!!!

‘Easter Delight ‘ Card Making Tutorial

This fun card features a large Easter egg that is decorated traditionally with an Easter bunny scene filling the center. The Easter Egg lays on a bed of Angelina Fibers giving the same feel as the Easter fluff that fills much anticipated  Easter baskets.

MATERIALS NEEDED TO MAKE THIS CARD:

TO MAKE THIS CARD:

  1. Cut out a large oval from a light colored cardstock.
  2. DECORATING the egg:  To create the decorative lines use your ribbons and rik rak clear stamps or some of your favorite border clear stamps, peel the design of the clear carrier and place it on your stamping block with a slight bend in it. Ink and stamp the border so that it divides the egg into three sections. Switching borders and colors as often as you desire, continue to decorate the top and bottom sections of the egg with the border clear stamps. Finish the top off with a flower or other round design. If you wish, color in any empty space between the border designs.
  3. To decorate the center of the egg, you will need your stamping ink, the sticky note and a sponge dauber create grassy hills as outlined in the Cheerful Mist Card Making instructions.  Using the Birch Buddies clear rubber stamps stamp the rabbit onto a separate sheet of white cardstock. Use the grass clear stamp if desired to add texture to the hills you create. Stamp in bushes and trees using the smaller stamps on the Winter Trees clear stamp set. Cut out the rabbit and secure it in the hills. Finish the egg off by gluing oval rhinestones randomly through the hills you have just created. You may wish to add tiny sparkles to some of the border designs on your egg as well.
  4. Cut an oval scallop edged mat for the egg.
  5. Prepare your angelina fibers as instructed in the Angelina Fibers Information page. Make it large enough to surround the bottom half of you Easter egg design.
  6. Secure patterned paper to the top part of your card, then place the oval mat so that it is centered on the card. Secure the green cardstock at the bottom of the card face. Next secure your angelina fiber with double sided tape. The last step is to adhere the egg design on it’s mat. Stamp “Happy Easter” on the top half of the card using your clear alphabet stamps.
  7. Stamp a saying or sentiment inside your card to prepare it for use!

‘Someplace To Celebrate’ Card Making Tutorial

A lovely effect is created with both a background and foreground design coming together to create a dimensional forest in this sweet little celebration card. The deer almost appears to be pondering and appreciating his forest home.

MATERIALS NEEDED TO MAKE THIS CARD:

TO MAKE THIS CARD:

  1. Cut and fold your brown cardstock to form your card.
  2. Using the Birch Buddies clear rubber stamps, stamp the two birch trees on the left and one on the right leaving about 1″ clear from the edge (if you have to mask off part of the design so you have the right spacing)
  3. Cut your blue cardstock to fit inside the card.
  4. Cut out the space between your outside trees. Use a ruler to define the top and bottom of your design.
  5. On the blue cardstock stamp multiple birch trees. Color them in using pigment in as explained in the Coloring Designs like a Pro information article (technique #5).
  6. Stamp green grass at the base of the trees.
  7. Stamp leaves onto the trees using the Mini Bee clear stamps.
  8. Using the dimensional glue (this will leave a glossy finish when it is dry) cover the three trees on the brown cardstock with the glue. This will give them a little more shape and it also gives them a different texture from the rest of the paper.
  9. Once the dimensional glue is dry secure the blue paper to the back of the design showing the forest through the trees. Add leaf shaped brads to the foreground of the design.
  10. Stamp the deer on a separate piece of cardstock. Color as desired and add gems to the spots on his back. Secure to the front of the card.
  11. Stamp or write the word ‘Celebrate’ onto blue cardstock and mat with brown. Secure to the bottom left corner of the card.
  12. Add a saying or sentiment inside your card and it is ready to be used!

Birthday Buttons Card Making Tutorial

Make a fun and festive birthday card that adds joy to the day and brings a smile to the face of someone you love. Decorated with buttons and clear hobby rubber stamps, the Birthday Buttons card helps you make birthdays extra special!

Materials you will need to make this card:

To Make This Card:

  1. Using the Triumphant Card making template, Score cardstock A, 5” from one side and fold giving you a 6″ x 6″ card.  Cut papers B, C, D, E, F and G to size. 
  2. With the blue ink pad, lightly rub it over the embossed paper (C) to highlight the raised designs.  Glue C with a B flanking each side.  Glue cardstock E on the inside of the card as illustrated in the card layout diagram.  Trim the edges for evenness.
  3. Ink the edges of the front of the card with the brown ink.  Ink the edges of cardstock E in place on the card.
  4. With the Frame rubber stamp and the blue ink, stamp a frame onto the white cardstock.  Cut out the middle of the frame as well as around the outside edges with the craft knife.  Take a 2” square scrap of the pattern paper and glue onto cardstock F in the center.  Glue the Frame over it onto F as well.
  5. Stamp the birthday cake from yourClear Birthday rubber stamps in brown ink onto a piece of white cardstock.  Ink with the blue ink and highlight image with colored markers using colors from the pattern paper.  Cut out the cake and mat with brown cardstock.  Secure onto F with 3-d sticky foam as shown in the card picture.
  6. With Birthday Saying clear stamp and the brown ink, stamp the sentiment continuously across cardstock D.  Ink the edges with brown ink.  Secure with glue onto the card below F.
  7. Glue G into the center of E.  Begin attaching buttons as desired with 3-d sticky foam or double sided tape if desired.
  8. Add a birthday sentiment or thought inside your card or leave it blank for a finished project!
