Simple Ideas for Valentines

For Valentines this year we wanted to share with you some of our creative card and Valentine ideas! Here they are:

3d Hearts

To create dimensional hearts on your valentines stamping crafts, simply make three hearts for every one heart on your projects. Fold them all in half. Now place one folded heart under the left side of your heart and the other folded heart under the right side of the heart. Glue in place and the heart pops out at you!

Here are some adorable ideas for Valentines that kids can make:

USING SUCKERS:

Butterfly Valentine

This is a completely home made valentine with a sweet treat in the center. You can even add googly eyes to the sucker and pipe cleaner for antennae. Clear rubber stamps are handy to decorate the wings and add sweet sentiments and sayings.

Flower pops

This adorable flower pop is super simple and fun to give with the suckers being the center of each flower.

Superhero Valentine Sucker

Everybody loves superheroes! Especially kids! These valentines are made by simply adding a cape and goggles! Another variation of this idea appears below!

USING GLOW STICKS:

Glowstick lightbulb

These are fun cards printed on the computer with a glow stick inserted through the back.

Glowstick light saber

The perfect valentine gift for your boys to give. A home made light saber!

Glowstick arrow

These creative arrows are another fun way to decorate glow sticks for valentines.

NOTE: When using glow sticks, have your kids insert the glow sticks into their finished cards the morning of Valentines day in case the glow stick gets activated. That way the recipient can still enjoy it.

Happy Valentines to you all! My you have wonderfully creative ideas for your Valentines projects this year!!!

DIY Scrapbooking Embellishments with Buttons

Anyone who sews, mends, or scrapbooks likely has a host of colorful buttons in their possession. Buttons are wonderful accents for paper craft projects like scrapbook pages and card making crafts when used creatively. Here are a few fun ideas for using buttons:

This is a simple but beautiful embellishment using flower shapes in two designs completed with a contrasting colored button for the center. Flower petals are folded upward for dimension.

This assortment of embellishments include both flowers and round discs. Using larger buttons is a unique way to create a small medallion type flower.

These bright buttons adorn printed paper that adding a vintage look to your scrapbooking and card making designs.

The critters on this card are created using buttons and craft eyes as well as paper bits and wire. Buttons are a fun way to add a little character to scrapbook and card making projects.

The above buttons are created using chipboard, paper discs and rubber stamping designs or hand drawn images. Once the button is colored or decorated a clear epoxy is added to create the shiny dimension which completes the button embellishment.

These buttons sit atop felt discs which have been enhanced with a little hand stitching. Discs can be secured together using a glue gun making them ready to attach to your scrapbook art and card making ideas.

These adorable embellishments are created by simply gluing stacks of colorful buttons together. Once they are dry they are ready to be used in your paper craft projects.

This button is a little fancier than some of the other examples. A paper disc has been cut and then punched with small holes around the circumference. A narrow ribbon has been threaded to crisscross in the middle and then is completed by a button and contrasting ribbon. Smaller holes and embroidery floss would also work well in this technique.

Have a great time using up some of your surplus buttons to uniquely embellish your clear rubber stamping designs and scrapbook art!

Casual Fathers Day Card Making Idea

I have seen many variations of the dressy Fathers day cards – you know the ones I mean, the paper is folded to look like a dress shirt, a tie is added and you have a classy card or gift bag – but what if the dressy, professional look is not your dad? Well, we have come up with a casual card that is made to look like a T-shirt. It is simple to make and very easy to personalize to the likes and personality of your dad.

Here are a few quick tips for making this card. This is a 4×6 card with the fold on the 4″ inch side.

  1. Make sure that your card folds the long way – meaning that it is hinged on the short side of the card
  2. Cut a v-shape off both sides to create sleeves. Be sure not to cut the V in too deep or the sides of the shirt will be too sloped and will actually look like a dress rather than a T-shirt.
  3. For the neck, mark the half way point across the hinged side of the card. Open the card flat and cut a half oval for the next opening. Once that is done, but the back portion down just a tiny bit – no more than 1/8″.
  4. For the collar simply trace the half oval you cut out and then enlarge that edge – like as though you were going to mat it with a 1/4″ (or maybe a little wider) mat. Cut out the U shaped collar and glue it to the top of your shirt. Add stitch lines or draw in fabric lines as desired.
  5. Once your shirt is built decorate it using your Fathers Day Clear rubber Stamps. This is an easy way to customize the designs on your card to the personality, likes and hobbies of the card recipient. The card sample above is decorated with the ‘World’s Greatest Dad‘ clear hobby rubber stamp set.

Happy Stamping and Happy Fathers Day to all your Wonderful Dads!!!

Twist Cards

The twist card is a fabulous card for making invitations as well as fun greetings for any occasion! The center of this card actually flips over as you open the card! If you follow the basic tips and tricks below, you will find this card to be a fascinatingly simple design to create!

First of all, the following video will help you better visualize what this card does. It is 9 seconds long.

Tips for making this card:

  • Create the inside panel first! Mat it if you like and then fasten it securely and squarely onto your sturdy cardstock. Do NOT mount it any closer to the edges than 1″ leaving more if possible.
  • Next cut on the solid lines around your matted element as indicated in the template image above. Please note that there is no cut made between the two fold lines. In order to get your fold lines in the right place ensure that your first fold line is positioned exactly half way across the distance of your matted element.
  • The fold lines should be positioned at least 1″ apart and more if your design element is large.
  • Carefully fold your card and trim to size as desired.
  • Decorate the face of your card to introduce the contents as desired using clear hobby rubber stamps and scrapbooking supplies.

Volumes of Valentine Card Making Ideas

Making beautiful valentines cards to convey those extra special feelings of love is one of the many joys that rubber stampers look forward to. We want to give you a head start of Valentine Card making ideas. This post features volumes of card making ideas using Valentines Clear Hobby Rubber Stamps.

This card is a very simple card that uses the Rose Heart Cling. The Rose Heart Cling is an ornate design that makes stunningly beautiful cards simply and easily. It can be colored creatively and enhanced with glitter if desired as the card above. While the card pictured is a birthday card, this same card design makes a delightful Valentine.

This card is delightfully decorated with a Valentines theme using a cupcake clear rubber stamp decorated with hearts. Cupcakes have become very popular in the clear rubber stamping sector giving you a number of different cupcake designs to choose from. One of our favorite is the Hey There Cupcake design which allows you to custom build your own cupcake to adorn your Valentines cards.

This card is delightfully decorated using clear stamps to create a decorative design on otherwise plain cardstock. This card features a cutout heart which folded in half and secured in the center causes it to ‘POP’ out of the card face. Embellished with roses, this card will be sure to delight those you love.

This Valentines bi fold card is created with plain card-stock. The background designs are created using 4 similar colors of ink and the Ribbons and RikRak clear rubber stamps. Clear Border stamps are wonderful for creating lines in backgrounds. The letters are also stamped in and colored. These letters consist of the ‘My Favorite Letter L‘; ’My Favorite Letter O‘; ’My Favorite Letter V‘ and ‘My Favorite Letter E’

This card can be created using any heart stamp that you have on hand as long as it is a fairly good size. Add complimentary ribbon and layer the colors of cardstock you choose to use to complete your Valentines card.

This card is delightful to make and give. It is created simply using the Rose Heart Cling. The card is made by folding it in thirds and then decorating the top card face in the ‘portrait’ position so that the folds are at the top and bottom of the card. Fold the top up and the inside down, then decorate the bottom section with your Valentines sentiment. When the card is folded up the sentiment is folded into the very center of the card. Be sure that your sentiment only covers the bottom half of the panel so that it can hold up the card as pictured.

This stunning Valentines tag is created using the Pattern Trio clear hobby rubber stamps in conjunction with some small hearts. Once you have created your background stamp and emboss the small hearts (or you can use stickers if you like) to complete your Valentine tag.

This card uses the same Pattern Trio clear stamps to create a larger card with a heart charm hanging from the sentiment.

This tall narrow Valentines card is easily created using the Hearts clear rubber stamps. This set includes everything you need to create this design.

A Valentines tag created with the Hearts clear rubber stamps. This little tag is ideal for adding to a box of chocolates or a bouquet of flowers that you wish to give to someone you love.

This card is actually a pouch that holds Valentines candies. To make this card you will need a heart shaped aperture in the face of the card which allow you to look inside at the heart candies which are wrapped in cling wrap or clear cellophane. Ensure that your card is long enough to allow a flap to fold over the top. Decorate the flap using the Hearts clear rubber stamps. Tie with a ribbon or secure with a pin, and it is ready to give away.

This card is a very basic card using the same stamp from the Hearts clear rubber stamp set to create a pattern background. It is then tied with a ribbon and a stamped sentiment is added to complete the project.

Getting Organized using Clear Rubber Stamps

Christmas is an exciting time with much anticipation and preparation involved. I find that it is not uncommon to discover that once the flurry of Christmas preparations are past, that I have a number of new items to organize into my craft room. Some I receive as gifts, but many of them are purchased to make a special gift for a loved one. Clear alphabet stamps are a wonderful solution to keeping your craft room organized.

Clothes pins are an easy and attractive way to keep things organized. The clothespin above is labelled organize and is a quick convenient way of making sure that you get things put away especially if you don’t have time to do it right now. Clothes pins can also be used to label small paper scraps, color, paper projects etc. They can also be labelled with the name of a child or event. Once labelled they can help you keep memorabilia organized until you are ready to construct the scrapbook pages.

Papers can get rather bulky sitting in baskets. This is a fabulous way to organize memorabilia specific to one person that you wish to scrapbook in the future. A sticky label can easily be stamped on with clear alphabet rubber stamps to create an easy to read, uniform and attractive way to organize your craft room.

When new supplies are purchased you may need to label a new box or container specific to that project. In the above photo, clear alphabet rubber stamps are used to create a bold and beautiful label for this box of supplies.

Clear alphabet rubber stamps can even help you organize your kitchen! Above you will see a label made for snacks, making it easy to see and know what you have currently on hand in your cupboards. Using this method, your kitchen cupboards coordinate and you will be delighted every time you open the cupboard door.

Of course clear hobby rubber stamps are so much easier to use when they are organized into categories. At Clearly Rubber Stamping, stamps are presorted into categories by color, but the photo above shows a wonderful way of decorating clear dividers with easy to read labels that help you find exactly what you are looking for when you are creating a new rubber stamping project.

Have a very Happy New Year

Embossed Metal Shapes = BEAUTIFUL!

This is one of my favorite completed projects yet! Embossing a combination of colors onto metal shapes makes fabulous card embellishments, tree decorations or even home decor.

This star is about 2 1/2″ tall. I used a large cling rubber stamp to add the design to the metal piece. Then added 3 colored embossing powders, and completing it with a dusting of clear embossing powder. I love to emboss any time, but I found particular delight as I watched the colors blend and shine on this finished star.

Paper Christmas Baubles

I am always watching for new Christmas tree ornament ideas. I love making new decorations and decorating my Christmas tree with them. This month I found an adorable Christmas ornament idea made entirely from paper. Here is the finished project…

Materials you will need to make this project:

  • coordinating patterned scrapbook papers 1-3 styles
  • coordinating pigment inks
  • clear rubber stamps
  • white and colored cardstock scraps
  • clear acrylic handle for clear rubber stamps
  • 24 gauge wire
  • circle cutter or template
Cut 12 circles in total cutting the same number of circles from each color. Decorate the backs of any single sided paper using your clear hobby rubber stamps and inks to create a design that will add to your color theme.
Fold each circle in half and stack together, alternating patterns. Wrap the wire over the fold and secure to hold the circles together.
Using double sided tape or small glue dots, place a dot of glue on the top 1/3 of the folded circle. Fold the next flap over it. On the next piece place the double sided tape or small glue dot on the bottom third. Alternating until all the circles have been secured together.
Fold over two flaps to create a relatively flat area on the bauble. Stamp a Christmas design onto white cardstock, color it if desired, and mat in a coordinating piece of solid colored cardstock. Secure onto the two flaps to complete the bauble. Tie a ribbon to the top and if you want to be really creative you might  add a little white glitter along the top of the paper edges to look like a skiff of snow sitting below the ribbon.

Crafts that Feel

I love crafts – especially if they involve cute paper, sentimental thoughts or ideas, and allow for additional embellishments that help me make the project uniquely mine. The craft was called the ‘FAMILY’ Framed Project and the finished project looked like this…

I love what my clear hobby rubber stamps did for this project. Before stamping additional words and embellishments, it looked like this…

I love what fun words, flowers and sayings can do for a craft! If you would like to be able to make this craft the instructions are below….

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Background:  1 – 12×12 sheet of cardstock – your choice of color
  • Matts: 2 – 12×12 sheets of black cardstock
  • Patterned Paper: 8-10 different sheets of scrapbook paper in your color scheme
  • Embellishments: Ribbon, flowers, brads, eyelets, clips, beads, charms  etc in your choice of style and color
  • Glue stick and or photo mounting squares
  • Letters F A M I L Y either cut from cardstock or chipboard
For a 12 x 12 project (framed in a 14″ square frame) you will need:
  • 1 12×12 background paper
  • 9 – 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ squares in coordinating designs
  • 9 – 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ squares in matting color
Decorate each square as desired. Letters can be enhanced by tying ribbon around the back or by adding a paper flower.
Then the real fun begins, using either clear alphabet stamps, or words, sayings or sentiments clear rubber stamps, add fun words, thoughts and ideas to each letter square on your project. Once you are happy with the result arrange squares evenly on background paper and secure them into place.
