Using the Lyrics of Songs in Scrapbook Page Designs

The lyrics to a song can draw you back in time. The tune may trigger memories at your mothers knee, falling in love, a first date, party or heartfelt feelings. Music speaks to our spirits and is easy to identify with. As such, the lyrics to music are ideal to use in scrapbook art that mark important moments, memories and themes. The lyrics of a song can add meaning and influence to the photos of life that you use in your scrapbooks.

You will need lyrics to the songs you wish to use (these can often be found by searching google), a hand written or printed copy of the lyrics, decorative paper, solid paper to mat photos and text, adhesive and other embellishments that help you build your scrapbook theme. Clear hobby rubber stamps are versatile and are great for assisting in your theme building ideas.

Begin by thinking of the people or events that are depicted in the photos you wish to use, or the feelings that you wish to convey on your page. You may wish to use the title of a song as your scrapbook page Topper or you can choose a fun one from among the 1500 FREE Toppers available at Clearly Rubber Stamping

Below is one idea of how a song can be used to create and build scrapbooking themes:

Baby Pages – Use a lullaby to enhance your theme. For example the words to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

Twinkle, twinkle, little star, How I wonder what you are! Up above the world so high, Like a diamond in the sky!

When the blazing sun is gone, When the nothing shines upon, Then you show your little light, Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.

Then the traveler in the dark, Thanks you for your tiny spark, He could not see which way to go, If you did not twinkle so.

In the dark blue sky you keep, And often through my curtains peep, For you never shut your eye, Till the sun is in the sky.

As your bright and tiny spark, Lights the traveler in the dark, Though I know not what you are, Twinkle, twinkle,little star

This lullaby can easily depict the light and joy a baby brings into your life. It is easily decorated by stamping stars and adding glitter or jewels that enhance the delightful photos of a sweet baby and their joyful first smiles.

The lyrics to songs can also be altered if you wish.

Template Tuesday: Simply Scenic Scrapbook Page Layout

We are so excited about this weeks scrapbook page layout SIMPLY SCENIC! Inspired by mother nature herself, this layout offers a way to create beautiful pages, filled with photos and all the embellishments you could want!

A Day in the Wilds uses cropping techniques, clear rubber stamps, tags, stitching both stamped and hand stitched, embellishments and torn paper edges to complete an amazingly rich design.

To record the date on the coordinating tag the Let’s Call it a Date clear rubber stamps are used. Zig zag stitches are created using the Sew Artsy clear rubber stamps.  On this page additional photo elements have been added, but photos can also be cropped into the triangular shapes that stand as sentinels on each side of the page helping to enhance the scenic wonder of the layout.

This page is enhanced with stitching, both done by hand and also stamped onto the page using the Sew Artsy clear rubber stamps.

Template Tuesday: Designs from Video Games

So last week our scrapbook layout suggestion was to use select video game screens to design your scrapbook layouts in unique and fun ways. Below we have featured the layout patterned after the popular game Tetris.

The above scrapbook page uses the Triple Tetris scrapbook page layout and is combined with the Zoo Critters clear rubber stamps to enhance the zoo theme of the page.

The Scalloped Edge

Try this simply way to dress up a card or scrapbook page. First select a card making template or scrapbook page layout that has horizontal elements. This card uses the FEMININE Card making template. Next, cut a scallop along the top edge of your main element. Embellish the scallops with beads, sequins, brads, ribbon or anything crafty and unique. Complete the card or scrapbook page with your clear rubber stamps and enjoy the results of your hobby.jewelled-gratitude

TIPS FOR MAKING THIS CARD:

  1. Choose or make a scallop template which can be centered over the width of your card making project.
  2. Every element of this card has had the edges inked. This outlines the individual elements for a pleasing card design.
  3. When assembling the various elements of this card, do not layer them, rather place them side by side.  This allows the inked edges on all four sides of each element to show.
